Penelope Torribio, Singer-Songwriter and pal, Otis Roy, The Pomona Blue Yodeler, performed around Southern California. He imitated Jimmie Rogers, and I played my songs, and I imitated Minnie Pearl. What fun!

About Penelope Torribio

I met Bob Shreves at a park where I was practicing. He suggested that I should go into recording. I just taught myself to play, and I didn't know how to work with musicians. He told me he would get the musicians and teach me what I needed to know. We recorded four songs, Bob sent a tape to The Cowboy, we opened to 2,000 people, on a stage that was eight feet above the dancers, and played an all-original set.

My band was Bob Shreves on bass and vocals. He was also the band manager. Chris Fisher, a great guitar player, and vocalist. Bruce Wandmayer, pedal steel, saxophone, flute, guitar, and vocals, and me, rhythm guitar, and vocals. The basis of our band was my original songs.

I met Bher about my own life or about the life of someone I knew.

My next adventure was a professional album at the Blue Dolphin Movie Studio.

I was a teacher and a mother. I had never played an instrument, and I had never sung outside my shower. I met a man at a swap meet. P

He said, "Do you want to play beautiful music for only ten dollars. I bought a guitar and a beginner guitar book, and taught myself a few chords. I was not ready to go to the next song in the book, so I began writing songs about my life. I had no idea how my life would change.

I met Bob Shreves; he liked my songs. The next thing I knew, he had a band, and we opened to 2,000 at the Cowboy. I had never been on stage before. We became a popular country band in Souther California. And me, I was vocalist of the year for the California Country Music Association. I hope you like my songs. They are either about my own life or about the life of someone I knew.
